fashion designer: Paithani’s former glory

fashion designer: At a recent function organized by renownedne fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee… the Rani of Baroda Radhika Raje Gaekwad was a special attraction. The black Paithani saree she wore was a special attraction at the function. The set of long necklaces worn around the neck doubled the beauty of the saree. Along with this, Radhika Raje shone with a royal radiance at the function.

What is the best thing about the Mithi saree?

Radhika Raje wore a hundred-year-old cotton Paithani Navvari saree. Moreover, it is the traditional dress of the royal families of Maharashtra. The fringe and border of this nine-yard saree are made of pure gold. The entire saree is woven on a loom using cotton threads. These are created by handloom artisans in the town of Paithani in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. They are known worldwide as Paithani sarees, named after that region. Among these, silk sarees hold a special place. This art of Paithani weaving is centuries old. The saree is woven by combining high-quality colorful threads with gold or silver threads. No two Paithani sarees are the same. Each one impresses with its own uniqueness. That is why these are known as the most expensive sarees in the country.

Her account… A treasure trove of sarees

Radhika Raje is very fond of Indian heritage sarees. She has many ancient sarees with historical backgrounds. To know about them, just open her Instagram account… You can see an incredible treasure trove of sarees there. Whenever she wears a special saree, she not only shares photos on Instagram… She explains the speciality of that saree, who gifted it, etc. Radhika participated in the celebration organized to mark the completion of five years of Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s entry into the fashion industry. Along with those photos, she also shared another photo on her Instagram. In this, she wore a beautiful pink saree with a green jacket. She wrote her thoughts on the occasion like this… ”This is a nine-yard zari cotton paithani saree. This beautiful nine-yard saree is full of zari flowers. She is wearing an antique French brocade blouse along with the saree! This saree is a symbol of India’s textile heritage. The Maharani of Indore, Samyogita Raja, used to tie such sarees. I want this traditional art of handloom weaving to continue! Women love tissue, chiffon, cotton, and Chanderi silk sarees that are delicate and filled with beautiful flowers and zari motifs. Currently, no one is buying nine-yard (nine-yard) sarees. These are mostly tied by grandmothers, grandmothers, or workers and fishermen. This is an attempt to bring them back to their former glory.’’

In the past too…

Radhika Raje has worn this black cotton paithani saree once before. At that time, she shared photos of herself wearing this saree for a magazine cover shoot on Instagram. Talking about this saree, she explained that it is a very rare saree, which is very dear to her, and sarees like this are not available now.
